 yes to "Coffee Table Travel Guide" review May 23, 2009

I agree with another reviewer who called it "Coffee Table Travel Guide" (read that).
It has a lot of good pictures and articles in discovery channel style about PR. But finding information in it about restaurants, hotels etc was not easy. They don't cover Vieques and Culebra in detail. I found Fodor's PR book more useful for practical information .

When I bought this book, I also bought a couple of other travel books on Puerto Rico. This book was our favorite. It was very different than the others...different types of details and information on the area. Good pictures too.

I've only given this book three stars because I don't think it lives up to what most people are looking for in a "travel guide." However, that being said, I would recommend that anyone planning a trip purchase the Insight Guides as I always do. The Insight Guides are filled with color pictures of your destination that you won't get in other travel guides. They are also filled with tons of general (and some specific) information about places, culture, food, etc. I never take these books with me when I travel as other guides are much better for selecting hotels, restaurants and places to go. But I always read Insight before my trip and I love the all the photos because really "a picture does speak a thousand words" especially when you've never seen a place before.

Having looked at several guidebooks to Puerto Rico, this one is superior. Up-to-date information and nice photos.

i just love this book, it tell you all about the island it's history,
the people, and the food. you can even learn how to speak spanish, there's
a section in back of the book that teaches you even how to order food in
spanish.
