| Customer Reviews: BP Kung Pao is truly a dinner to avoid! January 29, 2010 Scott Burgess (California) After a solid day of hiking carried us to Strawberry Creek along the Snake Indian River Trail, we set camp and heated water for dinner. Backpacker's Pantry Kung Pao sounded great to our ears! After 10 minutes with the boiling water, the dinner was far from ready. Stomachs growling, we piddled in camp another 20 minutes before the meal was rehydrated. We added all peanuts and 1/4 of the red pepper flakes provided in the package. The red pepper dominated the flavor, which otherwise was bland. While the celery had a little crunch left to it, the Kung Pao was soupy and flavorless. We were both tremendously hungry. In spite of this, we threw half away and had Luna bars that night instead. If you see this product on the store shelf, just run away.
Our favorite dried entrees, quick and tasty! March 21, 2009 B5FL We have only tried the vegetarian entrees, but they are wonderful! The Curry entree, black bean tamale, and pasta primavera are our favorites but they are all really good. We actually use them in our pop-up after we have been gone all day hiking because they are quick and delicious and I'm too tired to cook. Just add boiled water, let stand a few minutes and eat.
Bland at best !!!!! January 22, 2009 E. Terrell (nashville,tn) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought these to take on a three day excursion up near fall creek falls in Tennessee and let me tell you these meals were a disaster. They were our first from this manufacturer and they were no where near as good as some of the other brands that we have tried. If you have tried other brands and liked them don't change and go to these meals. There is a reason that they are less expensive...
