American Classic ... OD GreenFebruary 24, 2008 ! Steffan Piper !(La Quinta, CA) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I remember when these shoes used to cost $9.99 and they used to be stacked waist high in bargain bins over at the Woolworth drugstores, which have subsequently faded into the American landscape forever.
There was also a time when these shoes, for some unknown reasons in the early eighties, were called "Joe Labachi's". I believe this was probably a slanderous remark and a put down during a period of history where the court sneaker was reaching all new highs with Air Jordan's and RUN DMC fame. Google doesn't really have a hit yet for "Joe Labachi" ... at least not yet.
The sneaker / tennis shoe / court shoe / whatever has made all kinds of transformation but this old school style is a now a standard and an icon.
