Product Description Bachata Roja is the first ever international release of classic Dominican Bachata. From the early 1960's to the late 1980's the legendary voices of Eladio Romero Santos, Leonardo Paniagua and Blas Duran spoke to the hearts of a generation. The dizzying guitar accompaniment of pioneers like Edilio Paredes and Augusto Santos charted the course of bachata s rise, and for three decades theirs was the sound of the streets of Santo Domingo. iASO has selected here some of the defining songs of bachata s pre-electric era.

| Customer Reviews: Wonderful bachata CD! October 21, 2009 Adam 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this CD! Great to listen or to dance to. Many of these bachatas would be difficult to find so it is a treasure to have them all compiled on one CD. It comes with a booklet as well that gives colorful information on each artist and song. These bachateros created the music foundation on which todays bachata is built. This album is a must have for lovers of bachata, merengue, and latino music. If you enjoyed Buena Vista Social Club I would think you would like this CD as well.
Bachata Original February 25, 2009 Luis Santana 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm Dancing While I Drive! October 27, 2008 Bonnie Brody (Fairbanks, Alaska) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love the pizzicato and the dance beat of all these songs. Having been to the Dominican Republic, I can imagine myself there, the sun having set, and going to a club where this music is played. It's smoky, women are dressed in slinky outfits and the men at the bar are surreptitiously looking the women up and down. (No, I'm not writing for the Peterman's Catalog). Though not the dancing type, with Bachata Roja playing, I would get up and lose myself in the music, alone or with an interesting partner (my husband, of course! ). I defy anyone to sit still to this beat.

Bella coleccion,
Le compre este disco a mi abuelo y le encanto. Todas las canciones son las originales. Buena musica para aprender los comienzos de la bachata Dominicana y para envocar la nostalgia.
Amazing treasure trove of hard-to-find Domincan music November 8, 2007 Joe Sixpack -- Slipcue.com (...in Middle America) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
"Bachata" is a party music that comes from the Dominican Republic, and since the 1980s it has become a globally popular dance style... This disc explores bachata's roots in the early 1960s to the early '80s, when it was still a primarily acoustic form, mixing the heart-piercing sentimentality of the bolero with dazzling, multi-layered guitar work similar to the Cuban guajira and Puerto Rican jibaro music... This is amazingly rich, satisfying music -- one of the finest historical Latin albums of the decade, packed with powerful performances from rare, hard-to-find records. Highly recommended! (DJ Joe Sixpack/Slipcue)
