Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com
This "racine" or Haitian roots band's fourth LP "Revolution," kicks off with "Sevelen/Sukiyaki (No More Excuses for the War)"--a searing and wildly imaginative reconception of the classic Japanese ditty--and runs on high octane through all 13 tracks. Recorded in Fugee Wyclef Jean's New Jersey studio and mixed in Brooklyn, it is Boukman's finest yet: equal parts temple devotion, dance floor frenzy, and frontline resolve. The music roils with Haiti's centuries- old turmoil balanced by a staunch faith that better must come. This is the best yet from a world music favorite known for blending excitement (hypnotic chanting, pounding drums, "Lolo" Beabrun's impassioned wails) with Western pop forms (blistering guitar raves and jangly keyboard riffs). --Elena Oumano

5 out of 5 stars 5 STARS IS NOT ENOUGH!   June 22, 2001

This album is so good, there are no words I could use to do it justice. BOUKMAN EKSPERYANS use soul, hip-hop, reggae, rock and pop to create a beautiful, incomparable album. With deep & though-provoking lyrics, BOUKMAN EKSERYANS stand tall and hovers above the superficial sappy music, that saturates pop radio today. For a group that was obviously influenced by Bob Marley, BOUKMAN EKSPERYANS lives up to his legendary example. All I can say is, hit us one more time because I can't get enough.

5 out of 5 stars WOW!   June 22, 2001

I bought this CD with a gift certificate because of all the hype I had read on Amazon and my love for the Fugees (Lauryn Hill, Wycleff Jean, Pras Michele), another Hatian band. I must say that I was ready for a disapointment, but I wasn't disapointed. Infact, this cd has become my favorites after all the Fugees CD's. Every time I listen to it I discover new things in the songs and the music, its a cd that i won't get tired of for a long time.

Boukman Eksperyan is an unreal talent and there is truely no other way to describe this group. The songs are hauntingly beautiful and the lyrics are applicable to real life. I can not wait for the next release from this original and creative group.

5 out of 5 stars OH MY GOD! You can believe the hype........it's all true!   June 22, 2001

I have never been to Haiti, I was interested in finding out what its modern music is like and I bought this CD base on all the hype I saw on Amazon about this group.

BOUKMAN EKSPERYANS, OH MY! Boukman Eksperyans has released a work of art, so fresh, so unique, so different than what is heard currently on urban radio. Sadly, this CD probably didn't even garner any air play. The songs are carefully crafted and sung, which makes This album a timeless clasic.

Everything good you have heard about Boukman Eksperyans is true (Trust me, I did my research on this group). It is also an understantment because even as I write this, words can't express how great this group really is (I know, after listening to this CD, I went out and purchase the rest of their work). Boukman Experyans has restored my faith in modern day music.
