5 out of 5 stars classic cuban violins and flutes   March 2, 2006

When I started collecting CDs back in 1991 or 1992, this was the first one I bought. Two worn out copies later, I still enjoy the music from one of the essential cuban orchestras of the 1950s. These guys are right up there with such notable popular artists of the time as Beny More, Arsenio Rodriguez and Perez Prado, and this collection has a great representation of their hits.

5 out of 5 stars Truly the ORIGINAL orquesta Aragon!   July 18, 2001

I've heard many recordings touted to be made by the Aragon, but that aren't. This one is THE REAL THING. Every song is the real (ORIGINAL) thing. I'll date myself when I say that I danced to the Aragon's music many times at the Habana Hilton, Caribe Salon, I think on Wednesdays. And, these are the songs I danced to, not those of others who try to pass themselves for our old favorite orchestra. Do buy it if you want to dance to the Aragon again -- even if the faster cha-cha-chas aren't your style anymore. There is "SILENCIO" among the pieces, slow and seductive. And, if you speak Spanish, those lyrics are fun. Listen to "SENOR JUEZ" carefully. Thanks, BMG, RCA, and Amazon for bringing us the Aragon greatness again!

I used to teach dancing and used Orequesta Aragon to teach my pupils. My son found this precious album for me through your website. Cuban music of this caliber will always be in style.

This old classic was re-issued by BMG/Tropical Series as one of its first "must do" projects. Just like RCA's, Beny More's "Magia Antillana", "That Cuban Cha-Cha-Cha" has raked in quite a bit for RCA Victor, including its current BMG administration. Included in this CD are some of the Orquesta Aragon's original cuban RCA Victor hit recordings, like "El Bodeguero" which sold well over the million mark, "El Organillero", "Al Vaiven De Mi Carreta", "Yo Tengo Una Mun~eca", "Silencio", "Sen~or Juez", "Los Fantasmas", "Sabrosona", "Calculadora", "Ay!Jose","Los Tin~osos" and "No Me Molesto". Because of RCA Victor's "limited editions policies", not more than three Orquesta Aragon albums, were issued during its RCA years. These recordings were so popular and are so valuable that all of them should've been issued in Lp's by RCA, but weren't, therefore depriving future generations of many of these afro-cuban music gems. Make no mistake the contents of this album are just a small sample of this great orchestra's 1950's repertoire. It is and always will be a valuable classic.
