The iP9 has several unique features, including a remote control, AM/FM presets, EQ controls, and even 3D sound for an enhanced audio experience. The iP9 also allows you to wake to your custom iPod playlist at different times on different days with iHome's 7-5-2 feature and programmable snooze settings. You'll also enjoy great sound around the clock with their Reson8 stereo speaker chambers.

An innovative clock radio for iPhone & iPod. Click to enlarge.

Reson8 speaker chambers deliver rich, powerful audio.

Remote included.

iPod, iPhone, Radio or Buzzer Alarm
Wake to your docked iPod, the radio, or--if you must--a classic buzzer alarm. Whichever you choose, a gradual alarm feature gently raises the alarm volume, so it's not too jarring. Dual alarm lets you set separate wake times.

You can set separate wake times for weekdays and weekends, and can wake to the playlist or song of your choice.

Programmable Snooze
The iP9's programmable snooze feature allows you to set snooze intervals of 1 to 29 minutes, so you can milk every last second of sleep before you're late for work.

Sleep Features
Drift off to your iPod, iPhone or radio, with programmable sleep times of 120, 90, 60, 30, or 15 minutes. Gentle Sleep gradually decreases the music volume as you drift off to dreamland.

What's more, an Adjustable Sleep volume solves an age-old alarm clock problem, allowing you to select a comfortable "sleep" volume level without affecting the "wake to" or listening volume levels.

Play and Charge Your iPod or iPhone
The iP9's Universal dock plays and charges most docking iPod models (in addition to using them for alarms), along with the iPhone. So when you do finally wake up, your device will have a full charge as you head out the door.

DST Switch
Switch to Daylight Savings Time at the flick of a switch, rather than pushing buttons for that whole extra hour.

AM/FM Radio
The iP9 delivers solid radio listening, complete with an external AM antenna for better reception. Save your favorite stations on the AM/FM presets.

Big Sound, Small Package
The iP9 delivers powerful audio with stereo drivers in specially designed Reson8 speaker chambers.

Reson8 is iHome's through-body ported speaker chamber technology. Porting speakers gives better bass response characteristics, and helps the iP9 deliver sound beyond its size.

Bass, treble, 3D and balance controls let you further adjust the sound to your liking.

Auxiliary Input
Connect external devices like MP3 or CD players to the rear auxiliary input for your enjoyment.

Full-Function Remote Control
Enjoy convenient control from a distance with the included remote--control both radio and iPod functions.

What's in the Box
iP9 Clock Radio and Audio System (Black), Remote control, Docking inserts, AC power adapter, AM antenna and stand, Owner's manual.

2 out of 5 stars Not THAT good ! Significant Issues.   March 12, 2010
K. Isabelle
Ok, I have been using this clock radio for 3 months now and it is time to be serious about this clock radio. I dock my iPhone G3 to the clock radio.

It took me 3 days of being late getting up for work to figure some stuff out (like the 2 and 5 day alarms while sounds nice just don't work on my radio, see below). I recommend a second backup alarm clock be used along side of this one.

I am giving it 2 stars for the following reasons. Be very cautious about purchasing this radio for alarm clock features. Save your receipts.

The Good:
Great Sound quality
Charges my iPhone at night

The Bad:
The dimmer settings are horrible. The dimmest setting is still very bright. I end up turning the dimmer completely off at night, and then I can't see the time. When you click the snooze bar which controls the dimmer feature it clicks so loudly it wakes up my wife. So if it is not the light of the display that keeps you up at night it is that loud hollow sound of the clicking of the buttons. They should just have a dimmer wheel which gives the user silent free reign on the brightness. Seriously, Fail.

The 2, 5, or 7 day alarms. Sounds like a good idea, but my 2 or 5 setting does not work. 2 apparently means weekend alarm only, 5 weekday alarm only, and 7 everyday alarm. The instructions say these alarm settings won't work if your Month / Day / Year setting is incorrect on the radio. Well golly, really! My Month / Day / Year setting is correct on my radio and the 2 or the 5 day alarm setting never works. The alarms will just plain not go of when I set mine to a 2 or 5 day. I have to go with the 7 day all the time. Fail.

The alarm sometimes sound even when disarmed. I use both alarm 1 and alarm 2 on a daily morning basis. Alarm 1 is to play my iPhone at 5:30am while Alarm 2 is to play the radio at 5:50am as a failsafe, every morning (because my 2 and 5 day settings don't work). If I decide to actually get out of bed after Alarm 1 goes off, I disarm both Alarm 1 and Alarm 2 and go into the bathroom to start my shower. Then, mysteriously while I am getting in the shower Alarm 2 will go off at 5:50am and start playing the radio! My wife has to roll over to my side of the bed to reach the alarm clock to turn it off. I have no idea why this happens. Neither of the alarms are showing as armed, yet Alarm 2 goes off. Fail.

There are days maybe 2 per month for me so far where neither alarm 1 or 2 turned on to wake me up. It just never alarmed even though I had both Alarm 1 and Alarm 2 set up as 7 day alarms as above (5:30am and 5:50am failsafe).

iPhone docking. I get the ubiquitous error message that my iPhone is not compatible with this device about 30% of the time when I dock. I found that if I unlock my iPhone and turn the volume up above 1/2 way on the iPhone and then dock it, I will not get that error message. Fail.

A minor issue alluded to earlier in my dimmer section is that the sounds the buttons make are horribly loud. If your spouse is falling asleep next to you, you should be really careful about messing with the radio at all because the sound of pushing buttons and the beeps that come out of them are way overboard. It sounds like loud echoed hollow plastic button mashing with beeps on top for added effect. It is bad.

My only explanation for these things is that I probably have some kind of defective radio.

4 out of 5 stars I like it   March 7, 2010

After several months of use, I like this iPod clock radio. It has been very reliable, has two alarms that can be set differently for weekdays vs. weekends, the clock brightness is adjustable. The controls are very easy to access - perhaps a bit too easy since my cats have run across the top of the unit and changed some of my settings. I have found that I need to keep a book on top of it to prevent feline tampering. I will also add that the sound quality is good but not fabulous.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Product   March 4, 2010

For a small alarm clock/radio/iPod player this definitely fits the bill. The sound quality is great for a unit this size, the dual alarms are quite nice, and I have yet to have a problem with my iPod. If you are looking for an all-in-one unit, this is what you want. iHome may be a bit expensive, but I have never had an issue with any of their products.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent sound!   February 26, 2010

I was not willing to spend 89 dollars on a unit i'd mainly use as a clock radio, but then i happened across an "open-box" buy at a local retailer, for 54.00!
My main objective was to have a reliable wake-up device with halfway decent sound.
Obviously, my perfectly functional Sony Dream machine was lacking in sonic charm.

Right out of the box, the iHome registered the correct time.
Next, i pressed the "radio" button, without even unwrapping the FM antenna, and the audio was fantastic!
I hadn't even dialed in the EQ function, which enhances the already excellent audio with considerable depth.
Setting the alarms & programing seemed very much intuitive, though the instruction manual is very readable.
The display is really nice, and easily adjstable to various dims.
My only complaint is the two wheels, that control volume & station tuning.
These "click" wheels lack any sort of grip, which can lead to endless spinning without results.
Once you figure out the way to sort of do it, it's not as big a headache as one would anticipate.

Overall, after being skeptical, i'm really pleased with the iHome.
The unit looks nice on any bookshelf or dresser, and most importantly, it sounds good!

3 out of 5 stars is it that hard to make the perfect alarm clock??   February 26, 2010

I like it overall. I wish iHome would give more dimming options for the display. It should be infinitely adjustable instead of their seven levels. Even the dimmest is too bright for me. Same for volume level. I want it somewhere between 1 and 2 when trying to fall asleep. I wish I could wake up to a different radio station than I fell asleep with.

Finally, I still get the "this device is not compatible" message SOMETIMES when I plug in my iPhone 3G. Usually it still will play the audio and charge, but on occasion it won't. And it's kind of weird there is no ipod button, it just switches to iPod when you plug one it. It stays on ipod even after you pull it out, until you press radio again...

Overall it does it's job. Radio reception is great compared to other radios we had in the same place.
