The picture shows the USB cable with the smaller plug. The smaller plug is designed for the ipod/iphone touch. It clamps on and off without the need for clinching the side button.
What I received from eTech (my shipper) was not that product. But the older USB cord with the pinch buttons. On top of that when I use one of these older USB cords to sync my iPod Touch 3G it doesn't sync all songs properly. So I feel jipped. I was sent something that I did not buy.
Just because a USB cable is a standard product. Doesn't mean the items can be treated as interchangeable.
Look to see who is shipping your product. If it is eTech, do not buy.

I bought this cable thinking it would be the official Apple cable as advertised but it was not. I plugged the cable into my PC and hooked up my 1st gen iPod Touch. I then got an error message in Windows saying it found an 'unrecognized USB device' (which has never happened when I've used the official cables). My screen on my iPod was flickering like it was getting inconsistent power draws. Needless to say I've unplugged my device and tossed the cable in the trash.

i don't know why there's 3 different cables shown, but the one i got isn't any of them, the one i got is the actual apple cable that came with my iphone, it reads in really tiny print on the cable "Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China" i guess they got their act together & stopped shipping out random cords lol
