Product Description
An essential item in any kitchen, Tramontina’s Gourmet 6.5 Quart Covered Cassrole in a vibrant red porcelain enamel finish is the perfect vessel for slow cooking soups and stews, braising meats, baking and even frying. The heavy-gauge cast iron vessel provides even heat distribution. The vessel's interior is coated with a light beige smooth porcelain enamel finish, so no seasoning is required and the pan is immediately ready for use.

Love, love, love my new Cast Iron Covered Casserole. Cleans up very nicely too. Bake on low heat for a very tender roast.

I purchased this nice dutch oven style pot in October 2007, at that time I tried to learn if any problem with lead in the enamel since made in China, never could get a response from Tramontina.
About 18 months later a small chip began in the bottom interior enamel which became larger and down to the iron, I have returned the pot for the company to see. (hefty postage bill because of the pot's weight)
I seasoned the pot, used only wooden spoons and hand washed never using anything other than nylon net to scrub if it needed.
It is a wonderful pot for soups and stews and the reason I purchased it is because it is smaller than my large stock pot.

A nice cast iron casserole-red enamel, but sooo heavy that my wife can hardly lift it.Works well, however, and a good value.

This Cast Iron pot is the best.I made beef stew in it,put it in oven, stew meat was fall apart delicious.Being able to go from stove top to oven is wonderful. It was preseasoned, which is a great time saver. After each use,I lightly coat with vegatable oil and store it,then it is ready for the next use.I have learned, though,to keep the heat on burner around medium.Once pot is heated you are ready to cook.I recommend this for though who like comfort food, and any recipe that is long cooking.I should also mention it is easy to clean,a little warm water and soap and it is ready to go.

I purchased the 6.4 quart version of this product as part of a Amazon 2009 Holiday special and got a great deal. Even at full price this product is worth every penny. It is heavy, solidly built and on par with its Le Creuset competitors. We have used it for stove-top soup preparation and oven prepared braised meats with no complaints. I would definitely recommend this product. Add an extra star to my review if this product is on sale or reduced in price. It is a must have for any kitchen.
