Product Description 5 quart Non-Stick Aluminum Dutch Oven with Lid
|
| Customer Reviews: A great Dutch Oven in a handy size, and is non-stick! September 22, 2009 A Research It Maven (USA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
KittAmore is a part of a Japanese company called "Daikin" and this 8 qt dutch oven is pretty good for the price. Do NOT, however, invest in the "5 qt" size as it is the same pot, except much shorter. This 8 qt has enough height, for instance, to brown meatballs without them splattering all over, but not so much height that would make turning the meatballs difficult. It is a lightweight aluminum pot with an excellent base that heats very quickly. Use only on medium heat! (This is a very hot pan!) It is nonstick (called "Silkware Exceed") inside and out. So no high heat, do not heat the pan dry, and don't use food release spray (like PAM!) NO non stick pan can survive these three things: high heat, heating a dry (empty) pan, or using non stick sprays! (Washing by hand is also recommended.) The lid fits tightly and is vented, and the pan is gently curved inside, not square on the bottom, making stirring a lot easier. Also, when kept covered, the pot keeps the contents nice and warm for a long time, so is great for a buffet or potluck. On the stove the pot heats quickly and evenly, and the (very nice) handles stay cool. In the oven (never more than 350 degrees) the handles get as HOT as the pan. Overall, a good everyday pan that, if treated with respect, should last many years. For $34.99, that ain't bad!
