Semi Flat bottom works well on electric range. Heats up really well. Best wok i have seen.

5 out of 5 stars Great size - love this pan   July 13, 2009

I bought this wok because I was sick and tired of buying $50+ large frying pans with a bad nonstick finish that would rarely last me more than a year or two. I use several cast iron pans but none of them are big enough for the quantity I usually cook. This pan is large. It is heavy. It sits on my gas stove beautifully. It was a snap to season for the first time (no smelly wax). I am using this pan as an everyday frying pan - not a wok necessarily. I own a wok - a very inexpensive one from the asian market that is huge and you can flip to your hearts content. This pan weighs a ton and if you are thinking you can flip it - good luck. I have already chosen to buy it for several family/friends for Christmas!

We love our cast iron wok...however we should have purchased smaller size since we are only cooking for two people.

3 out of 5 stars A good open (shallow) wok, but not the best   March 25, 2009

Although mine came pitted in several spots, understand that this is an "open" wok, indicating its shallow depth. Thus it requires more oil to cook with, a larger BTU burner to heat, doesn't steam as effectively as expected, and holds less food than the Lodge 14" cast iron wok. This is a pretty wok on TV, but its practical use is limited and over time will cost you more time and energy/fuel with which to cook. Though cast iron woks such as Emeril's claim to be pre-seasoned, a wok takes time to properly season, so expect things to stick at first. If you're shopping for a cast iron wok, I'd strongly recommend the Lodge 14" Pro Wok over Emeril's version. The Lodge wok is deeper, thicker, and will last a lifetime of daily cooking.

5 out of 5 stars Works great   March 7, 2009

The wok promises what it delivers.
It comes with three recipe cards, one of which has
a misprint on the amount of soy sauce in the shrimp fried rice.
It calls for 3/4 cup.

That is a lot of sodium in one meal!!!!!
