Amazon.com Review Lodge Color is one of the newest lines from this respected American cast iron cookware company. Traditionally shaped and more affordable than some European brands, Lodge Color enameled cast iron is just as durable, requires no seasoning, and attractively serves at the table. Lodge infuses this 6-quart Dutch oven with two coats of hard-as-nails porcelain enamel, in a choice of several bright colors that are gradated (dark to light) on the exterior, and which are nicely set off by a cream interior. Embellished with concentric circles and a black knob, the lid, which also fits the Lodge Color 11-inch skillet, is oven-safe to 400 degrees F, so you can start a stew or casserole on the stovetop and finish by baking it in the oven. The 6-quart Dutch oven measures 10-3/4 inches in diameter and 5 inches deep. Lodge enameled cast iron makes a smart choice due to its versatility-you can marinate raw meats in it, since it won't absorb odors or flavors, and you can braise, sauté, simmer, and bake in it. Made in China to Lodge's meticulous specifications, each cookware item is first clad in matte black enamel before the color is added. The black rim that shows on the oven is actually the scratch-resistant matte enamel, not the raw cast iron. Though the Dutch oven is dishwasher-safe, washing by hand is recommended to best preserve the glossy finish. Look also for the pricier Lodge Enamel series, with its unique L-shaped lid knob, in a different set of colors and sizes to suit any kitchen. All Lodge enameled ware is covered by a lifetime warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

Bought two - couldn't be more pleased October 26, 2009 Sky King (Massachusetts) I bought two of these last year, one for me, one for my Mother. We have had no problems at all. We both enjoy cooking with them and we both agree that each one has become our favorite pan. Regarding the chipping mentioned below, I wonder if they're having problems with one run of pans made recently?? Or maybe these folks work for Le Crusette (just kidding). Or maybe they are getting the pan too hot when empty?? All I know is I've used mine plenty and never had a problem
Chipped enamel October 18, 2009 Bargain girl (El Paso, TX) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this Lodge Dutch Oven at Target today for $59.99-good price, BUT the enamel chipped while I was washing it in warm soapy water before putting it away. Mind you, I did not ever get to cook in it! I had read a few bad reviews that referred to chipped enamel, but since I'm very careful with my cookware and not too hard to please I thought I'd be fine. Needless to say, I am very disappointed. Maybe this is just an occasional problem, but I'll be returning my dutch oven for a refund. I won't be getting a replacement.
love it October 7, 2009 Tekoah L. Handorff (Arlington, WA United States) I love this pot. It's my go to pot for everything. Cleans up beautifully. I love the way it conducts heat. The only fault I have found with it is that it is made by yet another American company that has their product produced in China.
Great at first October 7, 2009 Rachel B (San Francisco, CA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I might as well have adopted a puppy to work this hard taking care of something. I babied this thing because it was the greatest bakeware ever and I loved the results. After a few months of use (following the stringent care instructions, mind you) it was showing a few chips on the top and scratches on the inside-bottom. That was only half as disappointing as the day I opened it (around 6 months after purchase) to find the enamel bubbled and ready to chip off on the bottom. Now it sits on its special counter perch un-usable. I will write back when I get a response from lodge on the warranty claim. By the way they sell this at Target for 60 and you won't have to pay for 10+lbs of shipping
Mine chipped, too..... October 2, 2009 Annabanana (Boise, ID United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
......After probably 10 uses or less. I was preheating it before putting in oil and food and as soon as it warmed up there was a big "POP" and enamel flakes all over the stove. Myabe it was the temp change from washing it to rangetop, but as I understand it, they are supposed to be able to handle this....
