| Customer Reviews: Are you serious? February 26, 2010 J. Watkins (TN) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
you people are giving a cast iron product low stars because it's heavy?....it's CAST IRON,it's going to be heavy. it's thick metal, iron of all things, so how can you withhold stars based on the fact it's heavy?it's not like it said it was plastic and you opened it and were like "wtf mate!that's metal!!". How about we rate it on how well it does in the kitchen, and not on the fact that while you can read, you just can't comprehend.
Enjoying my new "pot" January 15, 2010 R Reynard (Lancaster, PA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got this for Christmas so I haven't used it a ton. I will say you need to take time to season it. It says it's season, but from what I hear and have read ALL cast iron really needs to be seasoned when you get it. It's a very easy process but a bit time consuming. I just looked it up on google to see how to season it. Very simple and I've loved cooking with it. HEADS UP on ONE problem the lid knob gets very hot and you need to use a hot pad to remove it. I almost burnt my hand the first time as didn't realize that part would get so hot!
For the price, I think you'll be pleased.
Another note, many have complained about the heaviness of the pot - let me just say my opinion. It's cast iron and will be heavy. However, I am not having any problem lifting it!
Emeril's cast iron ducth oven September 4, 2009 Rachel A. Clark (St. Louis, MO) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I am what you would refer to as a "big, healthy Amrican girl" and yet, this dutch oven is so heavy, it requires lots of muscle to lift it when it's empty. I cannot imagine it with food in it. It would cost to much in shipping to return it. Bummer. I guess I have to keep it. That's one thing I regret about internet shopping: you can't lift, touch, smell or feel whatever it is you are buying.
If I saw this at a local store, I would never have purchased it.
HEAVY! January 28, 2009 Penelope K. Kimmel (Colorado) 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have a smaller pot like this and ordered a larger one without seeing it. Trust me when I say, "you had better be strong to lift it"! Since I'm 70, I probably won't be using it much and it would cost too much to return. So I'll leave it in MY WILL!

When the Cooking channel says that once you make a soup or stew in a Dutch Oven-you will never go back to using a saucepan again-THEY WERE RIGHT! Soup never tasted so Yummy!
