Amazon.com Review
NordicWare's handy Microware TM series for the microwave gives home chefs the tools they need for clean, lean, and fast cooking. This unique egg boiler safely prepares up to four hard- or soft-boiled eggs within its own white, oval shell. To use, simply place whole eggs into the little grooves of the interior perforated shelf (piercing not required), then screw on the top and cook. No more hot water and delicate maneuvering to keep the delicate goods intact! The plastic boiler is high-heat tolerant and goes conveniently into the dishwasher. --Kara Karll

Product Description

2 out of 5 stars Explosion   March 15, 2010

Not as easy to use as I thought it might be. I put one egg in just to test it and it exploded all over the microwave. Maybe I didn't get the top on tightly enough, but it is just as easy to cook an egg in a pan because it still takes 10 minutes in the microwave.

3 out of 5 stars egg cooker   March 12, 2010

Have tried it a couple of times and each time one or more of the eggs are underdone. The rest are OK.

5 out of 5 stars Finally - perfect soft boiled eggs!   March 9, 2010

I love medium soft boiled eggs, but have never quite gotten the knack of it. I have used this product for about a year. I have used it to prepare soft boiled eggs and hard cooked eggs. I would say that my medium soft cooked eggs come out perfectly about 90 percent of the time. Occasionally a shell will crack, but it's still fine to eat. Sometimes the eggs are a little underdone for me, but I just take them out of the shell, mash them in the bowl and pop it back into the microwave for a few seconds. For 2 large eggs I have found that 6 1/2 minutes on high and 2 minutes "resting" works best for me. My microwave lets me set the timer and cooking function at the same time, so I just set the timer for 8 1/2 minutes and the cooking for 6 1/2 minutes and I don't have to do a thing until it's all done. Due to the design of the top, I make sure that I keep it turned upside down during and after washing so water will not collect in the lid and any other moisture will drain out. I have just ordered a second egg cooker for our RV.

2 out of 5 stars Don't use when you're hungry   March 2, 2010

OK, I'll be the lone voice of dissent for this product. I think the design wasn't well thought out. After you cook the egg(s), you can't use over mitts to twist open the top because it's very round and very smooth and oven mitts don't provide enough traction. I ended up putting on rubber gloves so I could get a decent grip (bear in mind it is very hot inside). After many minutes, I managed to separate the top from the bottom to retrieve my cooked eggs. The recommended times in the instruction pamphlet were way off; the soft-boiled eggs I was looking forward to turned out to be hard-boiled. I will grant that cooking times are usually trial-and-error; it's just the design that I have a problem with. Really, an egg cooker doesn't have to take the form of an egg!

4 out of 5 stars good product   February 28, 2010

This makes it much easier and convenient to cook eggs in the morning. Very easy to figure out how many minutes needed to boil a soft or hard egg. Simple but smart design. The only thing that I'd like this one to improve on is that it will be better if it uses stainless steel instead of aluminum for the inside.
