Product Description
Steaming food preserves nutrients, brilliant colors and doesn't require the addition of any cooking fat. It's also quick and easy. Boiling your pasta in a pot fitted with an insert means that when the al dente stage has been reached you simply lift the insert up, allow the water to drain into the pan and then upend the contents into your serving bowl. In effect this multi-cooker allows you to cook more healthfully, more efficiently and more safely. What's not to love?

Amazon.com Review
Made of 18/8 stainless steel, this set offers three cooking options in a single package. There's an 8-quart pot for simmering stocks and soups and cooking stews, an 8-quart colander that fits inside the pot for cooking and draining pasta, and a 2-1/2-inch-deep basket that also fits inside the pot for steaming vegetables and fish. A domed lid with an adjustable steam vent completes the set. The pot, lid, and a band around the top of the colander where it protrudes from the pot are all polished to a mirror finish, presenting a uniform exterior. Hollow handles on the pot and the colander stay cool on the stovetop. Both the colander and the steamer nest inside the pot for compact storage. The set is dishwasher-safe and carries a five-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

1 out of 5 stars Used once and pitched it out   July 22, 2008

Poor construction. After one dishwasher cleaning, developed rust spots. Ended up being an expensive proposition since I had to go out and buy another one.

Got this pot many years ago and still going strong. Easy to steam in the top while cooking on the bottom. Would purchase again!

Bought this for cooking clams. Its perfect. Now if I could just get family and friends to buy the clams we'd be set.

1 out of 5 stars How can Stainless Steel Rust?   October 31, 2005

I have used the pot one time and it has already started to rust where the bottom of the pasta strainer comes in contact with the pot itself. If it is stainless steel, how is it rusting?

I will be sending it back!

3 out of 5 stars Will do in a pinch, just not for efficient steaming   August 7, 2005

The versality of a pot like this is undeniable. However, it is mandatory that it have a tight-fitting cover in order to create a proper steaming environment. The lid for this pot slides around, and I find that disappointing.

The pot is a good size for pasta and other foodstuffs which need a medium-large amount of boiling water.

It also is not very heavy to carry from the sink to range.

All in all, a handy cooker but not a good steamer.
