5 out of 5 stars Pyrex 18-pc. Storage Set   October 10, 2008
Sunshine (Beautiful Iowa, the place to grow.)
I purchased this set to add to my current collection when it was a gold-box deal, because I wanted some larger storage bowls. The two seven cup bowls and lids are so handy, and I certainly use the others as well! I like Pyrex because it is sturdy and lasts much longer than plastic, besides not carrying the risks of chemicals transferring during reheating. The clear bowls make it easy to identify contents and nice enough that can serve in them. I have caused a couple of lids to bubble and mar when reheating but (my bad) I probably should remove the lids completely and cover with something else. I don't know if replacement lids are available anywhere (?). I've not had the problem with the lids being too tight, and, FWIW, would not want them any looser. I highly recommend this set for a "first" set as it includes a nice variety of very usable sized bowls, and is also a great addition to your current sets, for people like me.

I purchased three sets for Christmas gifts as I liked the ones I purchased for myself so well. They are so much beter than using plastic for leftovers.

5 out of 5 stars I love these bowls   October 1, 2008
schoolgirl (alabama)
I bought these bowls when they were on sale and I am glad I did. I have been concerned for quite a while about using plastic to heat in , so I had started transferring food to a glass bowl. That just made more things to wash up. I love these, they hold more than I thought they would. It is nice to store all my leftovers in them, take out and heat up.
My only complaint is that the lids on the smaller bowls seem too small. I have to work and work to get them on. Finally, I tried running hot water over the lid and it seemed to help. Maybe as they are used more they will fit better. That is a small problem though. I am proud of them and hope to buy some more later.

5 out of 5 stars Pyrex is the best.   September 30, 2008

I got this set on a Gold Box special for under $20. Having received it, I would probably pay the asking price of $33. Although Pyrex tolerates heat very well, I don't think I'll ever use them for cooking. These are great glass alternatives to plastic for pantry food storage. The lids fit tightly and seem to be airtight. They stack nicely and there's no plastic touching the food. Despite the obvious problem of breaking glass, I prefer glass over plastic whenever possible. Corning puts a warning in with Pyrex now that you shouldn't heat it. That's to cover themselves legally so that when you take your boiling soup out of the microwave and put it on a cool granite counter don't be surprised when it shatters. I've been cooking with Pyrex for 30 years and with a little common sense (like using a trivet) it is extremely safe. Afterall, Pyrex is used in laboratories and it is heated and cooled repeatedly there.

5 out of 5 stars awesome product   September 30, 2008
A more than happy homemaker (bay area, USA)
I have purchased the 18 piece pyrex set just today so why am I here to write a review...?
I recieved the 14 piece set as a gift on my anniversary from my sis-in-law last year and since then they r being part of my daily life. I thank her for introducing me to such an awesome product. Some or the other bowl of the set I have in my refrigerator every day. In fact I stopped giving lunch to my husband in that plastic whatever microwave proof boxes and instead I started giving him lunch in pyrex 2-cup bowl. Its so convenient to use and the lids are so tight nothing gets spilled out. But now I feel short of containers with only 7 bowls and so I purchased the 18 piece set too. The list of the qualities of this set is endless and now with amazon coupon I got the 18 piece set in just $25...!!!
I would highly recommend this product to one and all.
