Love the game, but the PS3 Les Paul guitar controller is horrible. October 12, 2008 CJG 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm a huge Guitar Hero fan. The design of this product is fantastic. But the responsiveness is where it sucks. Let me explain why. It will work great for people on Easy and Medium. But when it comes to Hard and Expert, it will not be very willing to cooperate. The guitar uses a 2.4Ghz wireless USB dongle instead of the PS3's built-in Bluetooth (Great, I have to search for it if I lose it). If you have to strum up and down on fast notes, it will not register some of them. I can get over 600,000 points on Through the Fire and Flames on Expert on the Wii version of this game, but I can get only around 400,000 with the PS3 version using this guitar (Yes, I'm serious, I'm an expert player). It always doesn't register a note on the Intro during my 2-hand tapping and I have strum again to get back on the hammer-on and pull-off path. When I have to strum up and down on fast notes, it won't register some of them. If you plan to play on Easy and Medium the whole time, this guitar is ok. But if you plan to play on Hard or Expert, then I recommend finding a different guitar.
Solid and Good lookin October 11, 2008 B. M. Edwards (San Jose, CA) This guitar is a nice little piece of work. Very clean design and looks a lot like the real les paul guitar. The stum bar is a great upgrade from last versions pack in guitar and the buttons all around are smoother. The addition of customizable face plates makes the personal customization easy without having to buy stickers that end up pealing and leaving the glue all over the guitar. Good solid product.
The Guitar To Have for GH3 on PS3 September 15, 2008 Concerned One (Clarinda, IA) This is the Guitar that comes with the game, and as a second controler for a friend to use, there is no question to get a second Les Paul controler. I have seen and used many of the secondary companies guitars, and there is nothing that feels nor responds like the Les Paul model. The additional feature of interchangable faceplates is fun too. A must for you to have to do two player GH3!
If you want to have a good time this little toy can do the job nicely August 25, 2008 A. Griffin 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I honestly was very skeptical. Half of the guitar hero song choices I was never that crazy about but I've had friends and coworkers recommend trying this cause they knew I played guitar as a hobby for over 20 years. I had already purchased a PS3 a year ago so I decided to give it a shot and I had fun. It's not any good if you're wanting your child to learn how to play a guitar but if you want to have a good time with your friends this will do the trick nicely. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the price tag they want for these things at retail stores are at least double what they are worth. So if you got money to burn you can have some fun with this peripheral. If not spend your money on ps2 videogaming it's still the best value for your video gaming dollars.

It works like it should. No problems to date. I do like it a bit better than the rockband guitar.
