2 out of 5 stars Sluggish on Intel-based Macs   November 15, 2008
Henrique Peirano (Brasilia, Brazil)
I bought this game and installed it on an Intel-based Mac, along with the Universal binary patch. Unfortunately it continued to be extremely sluggish. The tractors would move to a snail's pace. Even with the game speed up to its limit. I, too, would have liked to see this game released as an Universal version, instead of just having a patch (that doesn't work) available.

As for the game itself, unfortunately they took out the ships from the weapons you could build, thus making the game more limited.

5 out of 5 stars It's a Command & Conquer, that says all ....   September 16, 2008

I bought the game few weeks ago.
Because i couldn't find the Mac version of the game in any german store (i'm german, excuse mistakes in my way of writing :) i was glad to find it here on Amazon.com.
Well, i think everyone who's searching fore this game knows C&C and what you can expect from it.
In my opinion C&C Generals and the suitable expansion are the most succeeded part of the complete series (balanced and verry tactical) !
I was lucky to get both (main game + expansion) in a box and ready fore MAC OS , thanks Aspyre ! :)
Now some much more interesting informations fore Mac users ...
The game works pretty good with an macbook 2.4 GH Intel Core 2 Duo and 2GB ram with the GMA X3100 grafic chip. Pretty good means that you can play the game on maximum resolution (about 1260x...?) and normal details when you want to play against more hard opponents. I recommend to use medium details because you might miss some chipset-power when you have a crowd of units on you screen :) But the Game is playable with maximum details.
You should load the latest update fore the game from the Aspyre homepage, it makes the game running a little bit smoother.
I have no expirience in online-gaming with the Mac version yet, so i can't tell you something about , maybee later :)

Ok, i think thats enough fore now. Buy the game, and have fun !
... by the way, i payed about [...] $ more fore shipping to germany, damn ! ... but who cares , ist a cool game :)

Greets from germany
Dominik

4 out of 5 stars Universal Binary Available   December 20, 2006

Aspyr Studios has now released a "Universal" patch for Generals for Mac, Deluxe Edition. This patch includes binaries that run natively on Intel-based Macs, which should offer the performance that gamers would expect of the platform, rather than the performance of a low-end G3 from 1998, which is what is offered by the PowerPC versions.

I wish the Universal binaries were available directly (rather than as a patch), and I would like to see interoperability in multiplayer play with PC versions. However, the campaigns/skirmish games are fantastic. Haven't had the occasion to play it online, but as bad as the network code for the PC original was, it can't get much worse than that.

1 out of 5 stars Does not work on new Macs   October 4, 2006

WARNING: This game does not perform well on Intel Macs. I have a MacBook Pro 2.0GHz w/ 2GB of RAM and performance was terrible. Do not buy this product if you own a Mac bought in 2006 or later.

5 out of 5 stars The best C&C yet   April 3, 2006

I am glad to see a mac version. However, I have macs and pcs in my home, and the two versions do not see each other as far as network games go. So we have to play 2-on-2 on the pcs, and a separate game of 2-on-2 on the macs.
