| Customer Reviews: Respectable Translation December 12, 2008 Dallas Kelsey III (Detroit, MI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you're a fan of the board game, this is a no-brainer. It's got hot-seat, LAN, and solo play (AI on the solo play is mediocre). The interface isn't what I would call polished, and it takes some getting used to. The resolution options are limited to older resolutions, so newer HD displays (particularly widescreen ones) may make it looks stretched, distored, fuzzy or small--but still passable. Graphics are so-so. But it's definitely worth having on the laptop for filler--and can be played online with friends. Takes the hassle out of setting up all the bits and managing them if you have a hankering to play but don't feel like handling all the bits.
Fast and Fun March 14, 2007 Miranda Prince (USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
When you play the Puerto Rico board game, it takes at least an hour, and that is with experienced players who play reasonably quickly. The computer game takes 5-10 minutes per game -- it's amazingly fast. It's almost too fast, in fact; the first time I played, when the game was over I was like, "What? It's over already?"
But it is fun, and if you're addicted to the board game (which is much more satisfying), the PC game is a good way to get a quick fix. The gameplay is faithfully reproduced; it's just not as much fun as playing with other people.
